31st World University Games 2023 : 6 Representatives from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura

The upcoming 31st World University Games is set to be held in China, from the 28th of July to 8th of August. We are proud to say that the team representing Sri Lanka consists of 6 students from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

To take part in the Badminton – Double event, we have Hasara Wijayaratne, a fourth-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce and Hasini Ambalangodage, a third year undergraduate from the Faculty of Applied Sciences. They two currently hold 1st place in the National Rankings for this event.

Amaya Kalukottage was able to get selected represent Sri Lanka in the Gymnastic event. She is a third-year undergraduate in the Faculty of Applied Sciences, who is also a national level athlete and has represented Sri Lanka in the Commonwealth Games in the years 2018 and 2022.

Chamal Kumarasiri, a 4th year undergraduate from the Faculty of Applied Sciences will be taking part in the triple jump event. He is the one who broke the record and became the gold medalist of the triple jump event at the National Athletic Meet in the year 2022.

A third-year undergraduate, S.A.T. Dasun from the Faculty of Applied Sciences has been selected to compete in the High Jump event. He is the record-holder of the high jump event of Inter-University Championship and the bronze-medalist of the same event at the National Athletic Meet 2022.

Amasha de Silva, an undergraduate in the Faculty of Applied Sciences, also the National Champion of the 100m event at the National Athletic Meet for three consecutive years will be representing Sri Lanka for the same event at this year’s World University Games.
