32nd World University Games 2025: The University of Sri Jayewardenepura Represented by Nine Athletes and Two Team Managers
The 32nd World University Games is scheduled to be held in Germany from 16th to 27th July 2025, bringing together the world’s most talented university athletes to celebrate excellence in sportsmanship, teamwork, and global unity.
We are proud to announce that nine outstanding student-athletes from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura have been selected to represent Sri Lanka at this prestigious international event. Accompanying them are two esteemed instructors, who will serve as Team Managers, providing invaluable guidance and mentorship throughout the Games.
Mrs. Ramani Kulathilake, Senior Instructor in Physical Education, will participate as the Manager of the Badminton Team, proudly representing the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Mr. Lahiru Dilankara, Instructor in Physical Education, will serve as the Manager of the Swimming Team, extending his expertise and unwavering support to the athletes.

W.A.I. Samanmali (Athletics – Triple Jump)
A 3rd-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Samanmali has demonstrated exceptional prowess in track and field. At the 2025 National Athletic Championship, she secured 2nd place in Long Jump and 3rd place in Triple Jump. She also represented Sri Lanka at the 2025 South Asian Senior Athletic Championship, where she achieved 4th place in Long Jump, solidifying her reputation as one of the nation’s rising stars in athletics.

W.A. Chris Pavithra (Swimming)
A 1st-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Chris Pavithra has already made waves on the international stage. In 2025, he secured two bronze medals at the BIMSTEC Swimming Championship in India and claimed five gold medals at the Ceylon Invitational Age Group Swimming Meet in Dubai, demonstrating his exceptional skill and dedication to the sport.

W. Jananuwani Amanda De Alwis (Badminton)
A 3rd-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, Amanda is a national badminton player ranked 6th in Women’s Doubles and holds an international ranking of 409 in the same category. Her achievements reflect her commitment and potential on both national and global platforms.

B.W.N. Sewwandi (Athletics – 5000m)
A 4th-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Sewwandi is an accomplished athlete who displayed outstanding endurance and determination at the 2025 National Athletic Championship, earning 3rd place in the 5000m event.

Samadhi Jayasinghe (Tennis)
A 4th-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Samadhi is a national-level tennis player who continues to make notable strides in her sporting career. At the Games, she recorded an impressive victory in the first round of the consolation singles event, marking a proud milestone in her international journey and bringing great honor to the university and the nation.
Dilvan Herath (Tennis)
A 2nd-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Engineering, Dilvan is an outstanding national tennis player, currently ranked 2nd in Sri Lanka’s Men’s Doubles. His achievements and consistent performances highlight his growing prominence in Sri Lanka’s tennis arena.

Vidara Suhasni Vidanage (Badminton)
A 2nd-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, Vidara is one of Sri Lanka’s most promising badminton players. In 2025, she achieved 2nd place in Open Women’s Singles and 4th place in Open Women’s Doubles at the national level, underscoring her competitive spirit and talent.

Thenuka De Silva (Badminton)
A 2nd-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, Thenuka proudly represents Sri Lanka as a national badminton player, contributing to the strength and diversity of the university’s representation in racquet sports.

Virunaka Hendahewa (Table Tennis)
A 4th-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Engineering, Virunaka is a dedicated national table tennis player, whose participation further enhances the university’s distinguished reputation in multiple sporting disciplines.
