University of Sri Jayewardenepura Participates in King’s Baton Relay 2025 – Baton Design Competition
The Commonwealth Games Association of Sri Lanka organized the King’s Baton Relay (KBR) 2025 – Baton Design Competition on 21st November 2025. This competition was held with the aim of selecting Sri Lanka’s official baton design for the King’s Baton Relay, which will represent the country at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. It provided a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to showcase their creativity and innovation.
A total of 15 teams from state universities across the island took part in this prestigious event. Representing the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, two students from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, following the Sports Science degree program in their third year of study, namely Kavindya Dissanayake and Esanda Bimsara, proudly participated in the competition.
Their baton design beautifully reflected Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage, sustainability, and modern creativity, combining traditional identity with innovative concepts.
Through this pioneering initiative, the talent and creativity of Sports Science students from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura were showcased at a national level, bringing great pride and recognition to the university.
