Leadership Development Programme for First-Year Students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Physical Education Unit of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura successfully conducted a Leadership Development Programme for first year students of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts on 04th January 2026.

The programme was designed with the objective of enhancing leadership qualities, teamwork skills, communication abilities, and self-confidence among newly enrolled undergraduates. Recognizing the importance of leadership development in shaping well rounded graduates, the Physical Education Unit organized this initiative as part of its continuous effort to support students’ personal and professional growth.

The programme included a series of interactive activities, group discussions, team-building exercises, and practical leadership tasks. These activities encouraged students to actively participate, collaborate with peers, and develop problem-solving and decision-making skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Special emphasis was placed on discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect, which are essential qualities for future leaders.
