About Us
The Physical Education Unit at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura was founded with the primary objective of promoting and enhancing sports within the university. This dedicated unit is actively involved in a wide range of tasks, including sports development, organizing various sports-related activities such as outbound trainings and leadership camps, maintaining sports facilities, and managing the inventory of sports equipment.
At present, the unit oversees a diverse selection of 25 sports, constantly expanding its offerings to uncover and nurture the talents of the university’s students. Under the guidance of the experienced instructors led by Director Mrs. Nishanthi Vidanage, these sports receive careful supervision and support.
Since its inception, the Physical Education Unit has consistently demonstrated remarkable performance and growth. The University of Sri Jayewardenepura has maintained an unbeatable position as the champion of the Sri Lankan University Games and Inter-University Championship for numerous years, attesting to the unit’s effectiveness and success.
