First Trophy of the Year: J’pura Women’s Hockey Shines at Mora 9’s 2025

On the 29th of March 2025, the Astro International Hockey Turf came alive as the much-anticipated Mora 9’s Inter University Hockey Championship, hosted by the University of Moratuwa, took place. This year the tournament witness the talents of  women’s hockey, featuring eight (8) competitive teams from different universities around Sri Lanka, all competing to win the championship. But it was J’pura Women’s Hockey team who stole the spotlight with an unbeaten streak, rising as the champions.

Showcasing exceptional strategies, teamwork, excellent sports discipline, J’pura hockey girls remained undefeated throughout the tournament, proving their dominance and superiority on the turf. Their unwavering enthusiasm and excellent coordination were evident in every match, which led to a well- earned championship win.

This strong team was led by captain M. Chanudi Perera , who maintained a strong momentum with close assistance of vice captain Sesadi Thiyumila. And Kasuri Umedha, who won the Best Goalkeeper title for her outstanding saves and steady play under pressure, was one of the standout players.

Congratulations to the entire team for securing their position as the unbeaten champions once again. A well-deserved victory and a commendable effort by every player who contributed to this success.
