ජපුර වර්ණ, ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය ශාරීරික අධ්‍යාපන ඒකකය සහ ක්‍රීඩා කවුන්සිලයේ සම සහයෝගීතවයෙන් විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය ක්‍රීඩක ක්‍රීඩිකාවන් ඇගයීම අරමුණු කරගනිමින් සංවිධානය කරනු ලබන උත්සවයකි…!

“ජපුර වර්ණ – 2026” වර්ණ ප්‍රධානෝත්සවයේ දී 2025 වර්ෂයේ දී ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය සමස්ත ශූරතාවය හිමිකරගත් 15 වන ශ්‍රී ලංකා විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය ක්‍රීඩා උළෙලේ සුවිශේෂී දස්කම් දැක් වූ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය ක්‍රීඩක ක්‍රීඩිකාවන් රැසක් මෙහිදී ඇගැයීමට ලක්විය…!

ජපුර වර්ණ – 2026 වර්ණ ප්‍රධානෝත්සවයේ දී වර්ණ සම්මානලාභීන් 350 කට අධික සංඛ්‍යාවක් සහ කුසලතා සම්මානලාභීන් 150 කට ආසන්න සංඛ්‍යාවක් විසින් තම දක්ෂතා වලට ඇගයුම් ලැබූ අතර විශේෂ සම්මාන 23 ක්, හොඳම ක්‍රීඩකයින් 40 ක් සහ වඩාත්ම කැපී පෙනෙන ක්‍රීඩිකාව සහ ක්‍රීඩිකාව වශයෙන් සම්මාන රැසක් ක්‍රීඩක ක්‍රීඩිකාවන් විසින් මෙහි දී හිමිකරගනු ලැබීය…!

මෙලෙස 49 වන වර්ණ ප්‍රධානෝත්සවයේ වර්ණ හිමිකර ගනිමින් ඇගයීමට ලක් වූ ක්‍රීඩා පිටියේ ස්වකීය දක්ෂතා විදහා දක්වන ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය ක්‍රීඩක ක්‍රීඩිකාවන් වෙනුවෙන් සහ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය ප්‍රජාව වෙනුවෙන් ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සංගමයේ උණුසුම් සුබ පැතුම් එක් කර සිටින්නෙමු ..!.

A Celebration of Sporting Excellence

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura has long stood as a cradle of champions, an institution that not only produces winners but also inspires future generations. To honor this proud legacy, the annual Colours Awarding Ceremony, Japura Warna, was once again held in grand fashion.

The 49th Colours Night, Japura Warna 2025, took place successfully on February 11th at the Water’s Edge Hotel in Battaramulla. Organized by the university Physical Education Unit, the ceremony was graced by Senior Professor Pathmalal M. Mannage, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, together with the Guest of Honour, People’s Bank Chairman Prof. P. N. D. Fernando, along with a distinguished gathering of guests.
This night carried special meaning for the university’s sporting stars, as it recognized their dedication and excellence throughout the year. At the 2025 Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG) Championships, the university proudly secured the Overall Women’s Championship, the Overall Men’s Championship, and the coveted Overall Championship, adding yet another remarkable chapter to its sporting history.

A total of 538 athletes representing 40 teams across 24 sports disciplines were honored at the ceremony. Among them, 40 students were recognized as “Best Players,” while 23 students received Special Awards for their outstanding performances at both national and international levels.

The event was graced by Senior Professor Pradeep Jayaweera and Professor K. L. Wasantha Perera, the Co-Chairmen of the Sports Advisory Board. Additionally, distinguished alumni, including Mr. Kamal Gamini Silva (Managing Director of KND Group and President of the Sports Alumni USJ), Mr. Ranjith Iddamalgoda, and Senior D. I. G. Sujeewa Madawaththa (Secretary of the Alumni Association USJ), were present, adding prestige to the occasion. A special mention was given to Professor P.N.D. Fernando, Chairman of People’s Bank, along with his team, and Dr. Asanka Ranasinghe (PIM director) for their continued support and partnership, significantly contributing to the success of university sports.

Japura Warna 2025 will be remembered as a night that celebrated the spirit of sportsmanship, the perseverance of athletes, and the unwavering commitment of the university community.

Most Outstanding Sports Achievements

The most coveted awards of the night, the Most Outstanding Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year, were presented to Tharushi Himahansika and Dhilvan Herath, respectively, for their exceptional performances in their respective sports.

Outstanding Sportswoman – Tharushi Himahansika
A fourth-year student in Allied Health Sciences, showcased extraordinary skill in Carrom.

Her accomplishments include:

  • Won Women’s Team Bronze Medal in 7th Carrom World Cup 2025 in Maldives
  • Women’s Doubles Champion in President Cup Carrom Championship 2025
  • Mixed Doubles – Champion, Women’s Singles – Runner-up, Women’s Doubles – 3rd place in 55th National Carrom Championship 2025

Most Outstanding Sportsman – Dilvan Herath

A third-year student from the Faculty of Engineering, Dilvan Herath, displayed exceptional talent in Tennis.
His remarkable achievements include:

  • Men’s Open Doubles Champion in Sri Lanka Nationals Tennis Championship 2025 Number one in Current Men’s Open Doubles National Ranking
  • Men’s Open Doubles Champion, Mixed doubles runners up in SSC Open Tennis Championship 2025
  • Men’s Open Doubles Champion, Mixed Doubles Runners up in Colombo Tennis Championships 2025
  • Men’s Open Doubles Champions GSTC Tennis Tournament 2025
  • Men’s Open doubles Runners up, Mixed Doubles Runners up in Yeti Hard Court Tennis Championships 2025
  • Represented FISU World University Games 2025 Rhine-Ruhr, Germany

It not only showcased their relentless effort but also emphasized the steadfast support extended by the university, alumni, and sports enthusiasts, making the evening a true testament to collective pride and achievement.
