J’pura Produces Another Representative for 4X400m Relay at the Asian Athletic Championship
Two exceptional athletes from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura have been selected to represent Sri Lanka in the upcoming Asian Athletic Championship 2023, scheduled to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from July 12th to 16th.
In the intense selection rounds, where a talented pool of athletes competed, our university’s athletes showcased their remarkable skills. Among them, Nishendra Fernando, a senior colleague, had already secured her place in the Women’s 4x400m relay team. Joining her is the talented first-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Sayuri Lakshima, who impressed everyone with her outstanding performance.
Despite facing experienced athletes, Sayuri demonstrated her abilities and finished the 400m race in an third place, clocking an impressive time of 54.36 seconds. Her remarkable achievement secured her a well-deserved spot to proudly represent Sri Lanka at the Asian Athletics Championship.
