The J’Pura Tennis 10s Tournament 2026 was successfully held on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of May 2026 at the Army Tennis Courts, bringing together some of the most promising young tennis talent in the country.
The tournament was organized by the Tennis Team of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tennis Association, under the direction and guidance of the Physical Education Unit of the University. The event once again highlighted the university’s continued commitment to developing grassroots tennis in Sri Lanka.
This year’s tournament recorded an impressive 219 entries, making it the largest participation seen in any tournament of this caliber held in the year thus far. The competition featured three age categories: Green Ball (Under 10), Orange Ball (Under 8), and Red Ball (Under 7). Each category was further divided into Level 1, Achiever, and Pro divisions based on skill level criteria established by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association. In addition to the singles events, doubles competitions were also conducted across all age groups, adding further excitement to the tournament.
The event was made possible through the generous support of its sponsors and partners. CL Synergy Limited, the Hirdaramani Group, the Italian Car Enthusiasts Club, and Nature Ceylon provided financial support towards the successful execution of the tournament. Perera & Sons joined as the official refreshment partner, while 3G Sports (Head) served as the official ball sponsor.
Despite minor interruptions due to rain on Day 1 and Day 3, the tournament was successfully concluded through the coordinated efforts and commitment of all stakeholders involved. The smooth conduct of the matches was overseen by experienced tournament referee Mr. Saarangan Jeyachandirun, whose presence ensured professionalism and fairness throughout the event.
The tournament will return next year with the continued aim of raising standards, expanding participation, and further strengthening the development of junior tennis in Sri Lanka.
The organizers extend their sincere gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to making this event a success.
