L.G. Avindu Sasmika Liyanagedara 🏆 Represented Sri Lanka at the 6th International Men’s Fajr Cup – Tehran, Iran 2025 🇱🇰

L.G. Avindu Sasmika Liyanagedara, a talented third-year undergraduate from the Department of Sports Science, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, proudly represented Sri Lanka at the 6th International Men’s Fajr Cup Championships 2025, held in Tehran, Iran.

This prestigious international weightlifting competition attracts elite athletes from across the world and is conducted under the official regulations of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

Avindu’s participation marks an important milestone not only in his athletic journey but also for the university, reflecting the growing presence of Japura athletes in the international sporting arena. Competing on such a recognised global platform demonstrates his dedication, discipline, and commitment to his sport while setting a strong standard for upcoming Sri Lankan lifters.

Taking part in this event provides invaluable experience in high-performance competition environments, international exposure, and the opportunity to learn from top-tier weightlifting professionals and coaches worldwide.
