Tharushi Himahansika Weerasekara Brings Pride to Sri Lanka at the 7th Carrom World Cup
The 7th Carrom World Cup was held from December 2 to 6 at Barceló Nasandhura, Maldives, with athletes from 17 countries competing for international honours. It was a major global event where the best carrom players gathered to showcase their skills.
Among the Sri Lankan team members, Tharushi Himahansika Weerasekara represented the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with great dedication. She is a talented student from the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, and her participation in this world-level championship is a remarkable achievement.
In the Women’s Team Event, the Sri Lankan team performed exceptionally well and won 3rd place, earning a prestigious bronze medal. This result shows the strong teamwork, skill, and determination of the players, and Tharushi played an important role in this success.
Taking part in a World Cup where 17 countries are involved is a significant milestone for any athlete.
